On oatcakes

The oatcake – as is known to the wise – is a fine and noble food.

It is not necessary for an oatcake to be dipped in chocolate. This is frivolous and, I would say, obscures the specific goodness of the oatcake.

I should not have used the word ‘frivolous’ above, for that word has connotations of moral deprecation which I did not intend. I enjoy chocolate-dipped oatcakes on occasion. I do think the chocolate obscures the oatcake’s peculiar virtue, though.
